We offer a full year round program (except we are dark in July) in short track speed skating at the Ice Station Valencia and welcome everyone to give it a try.
If you or your child would like to come to a club group lesson to see if this is a sport for you, we allow drop-ins to join in for free the first time.
Our youngest skater is 5 years old and our nationally competitive skaters are mostly in their teens.
During our lessons, we separate our students by ability, age and size ranging from beginners to national champions.
When coming to a lesson for the first time, it is best to email us in advance at the email address below to let us know you are coming.
Our skating season and competitions run from September to April each year. So, we are now in our off-season stage of learning. Off-season, we skate only on Thursday evenings.
When you email us to let us know the date you would like to come and skate, include your shoe size. That way, we can prepare to have free equipment available and ready for your use.
We have enough skates to accommodate approximately 30 new skaters at a time, so it is encouraged you come a half hour early on your first night to get properly measured into skates, helmets and the like. If you already have skates and/or a favorite bicycle helmet to wear, by all means bring them. Our equipment is provided on a first come, first serve basis. In the event we run out of equipment, the ice rink allows rental of their skates for our sessions.
Most advanced skaters wear skating tights when practicing. Newer skaters who don't own skating uniforms or tights usually just wear loose pants or sweat pants with a long sleeve t-shirt or light jacket. Gloves are mandatory and you must bring your own. Tight fitting gloves, like soccer or baseball batting gloves work perfectly.
