Congratulations SCSSC 2011 National Master Skaters

President, Ron Halcrow (Master men 60-69):  won 3 gold medals in the 1000m, 777m, 1500m super final (dq'd in the 500) events and won the overall Medal for National Champion.

Coach, Ken Mastrianna (Master men 50-59): won 2 golds in the 1000m & 1500m super final events, 2 silvers in the 777m and 500m events.  He also set a new National Record in the 1500 and won the overall National Champion medal.

SCSSC Team Member, "Dr. Bob" (Master men 60-69): made all the finals and won bronze in the 500m event, while placing 4th in the 777.

SCSSC Team Member, Melissa Jo Engle (Master women 30-39): placed 4th in the 500.

SCSSC Team Member, Don Ness (Master men 70 and above): placed 3rd in all races: 1000, 777, 500, and 1500.

Out of 35 attending speed-skating clubs from around the country, Santa Clarita Speed Skating Club placed 5th overall in the medals' count

We're a growing club, always looking for new members to share in this exciting sport.

Our club is affiliated with US Speedskating, and the Southern California Speed Skating Association (SCSSA).

We're a non-profit, charitable organization [IRS 501(c)3].

Skaters young and old, beginner to advanced, are coached by former U.S. National team member Ron Halcrow. By placing an emphasis on proper skating technique, he creates an atmosphere where all skaters, regardless of skill level, are welcome.
